Today’s guest pet sitter — Likou — is a mom to 4 cats, a veterinary assistant, and a volunteer at an animal shelter. She has channeled her love for animals into a career, continually expanding her knowledge in pet behavior, nutrition, and more.

Since becoming a pet sitter, has there been a particularly memorable experience that made you feel proud?

While a pet mom was traveling abroad, her automatic feeder suddenly went offline. Likou made an unscheduled visit to check on things. They ended up becoming friends — exchanging holiday greetings and checking in on each other whenever one of them travels.

As a sitter, how do you make the pets in your care feel loved, warm, and looked after like family?

I treat every pet I care for as if they were my own — the more I think about their needs, the more I naturally do for them.

What made you want to become a pet sitter in the first place?

I was looking for a part-time job and felt this was a great way to create a win-win — helping both the pets and their owners.

Is there a heartwarming (or funny and feel-good) story that made you feel like you’ve truly made a difference in a pet or pet parent’s life?

I became close friends with one of my clients — we now share knowledge and tips with each other. (The cat in the photo below is mine.)

As a pet sitter, what impact do you think your work has on the pets and their owners?

I share the right knowledge about pet care, help new pet parents find their footing, and give them the peace of mind to head out the door with confidence.

Finally, is there anything you’d like to say to pet parents everywhere — or a message you’d like to share?

Love them, cherish them, and never give up on them. You are just a part of their world — but they are your whole world.
