What is a pet sitter?
A pet sitter is a caring individual with experience looking after dogs and cats, who provides pet care within the owner’s home environment. This approach is already very popular in Western countries — companies like Rover and PetBacker help pet owners find nearby, available pet sitters to come to their home. In Taiwan, Fluv offers a matching service for in-home pet sitters. Compared to traditional pet hotels, pet sitter matching is a more suitable option for modern pet parents — sitters come to you, saving the hassle of drop-off and pick-up, and allowing your pet to stay in a familiar environment free from anxiety.

Many pet owners highly recommend pet sitter care services. Fluv is Taiwan’s largest pet sitter platform.
What kinds of pets are a good fit for a pet sitter?
In-home care
The pet sitter comes to the owner’s home to provide care, including feeding, tidying up the environment, playtime, and status updates to the owner. You can schedule a free home visit in advance so the sitter can familiarise themselves with the environment and meet your pet for the first time.
Great for cats that dislike going out or dogs with limited mobility. If you have multiple pets at home, in-home care is also a cost-effective choice that lets your pets stay active in their own familiar surroundings.
Pet boarding and care
Your pet stays at the sitter’s home and receives one-on-one care, giving them the freedom to roam and play comfortably in a home setting. Services include feeding, general care, playtime, and regular updates to the owner — with a cage-free, personalised experience as the hallmark.
Best suited for sociable, energetic dogs.
Long-term home care
A new alternative for owners who are away for extended periods and don’t want their pet confined in a pet hotel. A pet sitter takes over daily routines, and even when you’re not home, a professional sitter can take your pet out for walks and fresh air.
Ideal for owners with long-term travel needs.
Dog walking service
If you’re working late or something comes up and you can’t get home, but your dog needs to go outside, a pet sitter can step in for a walk. Even when you’re not around, a professional sitter can take your pet out for some fun and exercise.
Especially suited for medium to large, high-energy dogs like Huskies, mixed breeds, Border Collies, Golden Retrievers, and more.
Free introductory home visit
We offer a reassuring home visit service — before booking, you can schedule a free visit to meet the sitter, see the care environment, and let your pet interact and build a bond with them. Once you’re happy with everything, simply go ahead and make your booking.
Regardless of which service you choose, your pet sitter will send you photo reports so you can see what your pet is up to, even when you’re away — giving you total peace of mind!

Pet sitter FAQs
1. How does the sitter get into your home when you’re not there?
Through a home visit arranged in advance, the sitter can come to your home for a first meeting with your pet, familiarise themselves with the care environment, and note the location of food bowls, litter boxes, and cleaning supplies — while also getting to know your pet’s personality.
During the home visit, you can discuss key handover arrangements with the sitter. Many owners arrange this through the building concierge.
2. How are pet sitters screened? Can I trust a stranger?
All pet sitters on Fluv are animal lovers with pet ownership or volunteering experience. They go through identity verification and training before becoming a sitter. Owners can also browse ratings and reviews through Fluv’s review system to find a sitter they feel confident trusting.
3. Who is responsible if my pet gets hurt?
Every booking includes insurance coverage. If an accident occurs during care, the pet sitter is responsible for compensation, with a self-pay excess of NT$3,000. For costs exceeding that amount, Cathay Century Insurance provides additional medical coverage of up to NT$15,000.
4. My pet is shy around strangers — is a pet sitter still a good fit?
If your pet is on the shy or slow-to-warm-up side, a home visit is a great way for them to have an initial meeting with the sitter and start building trust. If you still have concerns, the sitter and owner can discuss together whether the service is a good match.
If your pet is aggressive, pet sitter care may not be the right fit — this is both to protect the sitter and to prevent your pet from becoming overly stressed or anxious, which could lead to an accident.
5. My pet needs medication or wound care — can a pet sitter help?
For any special medical needs, you can search for pet sitters who have listed medical care skills in their profile. You can also discuss your requirements directly with the sitter when booking, and make sure to explain the medical care details clearly.
